Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is thousands of years old and recognizes the inseparable relationship between body, mind, spirit and nature. Ancient practitioners believed that humans are microcosms of the larger surrounding universe, and are interconnected with nature and subject to its forces.
Energy or Qi is at the very heart of TCM. Everything is energy! We know this now from discoveries in modern physics. Meridians are a vast network of invisible energy pathways connecting to each other and to every atom, cell, tendon, bone, organ, each centimeter of skin—everything in your body! These body pathways are interconnected with your mind, your emotions, and spirit—everything conscious and unconscious within you.
Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system which releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. Promoting deep relaxation, increasing endorphins and local blood flow, relaxes tight muscles, neutralizes trigger points, and blocks pain signals.
in a nutshell...
As long as energy flows freely through your meridians and your organs work in harmony, your body can remain healthy. This means that when your body’s meridian system functions well, you are well. Yet due to a number of causes—like excess stress—your body’s meridians can become clogged or even blocked. By increasing and balancing your energy, you give your body and your being the healing support it needs.
Our treatments (acupuncture, acupressure massage, or cupping) will help you optimize the body’s natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.
We have implemented excellent protocols to ensure the health and safety of our clients, staff, and community. Due to the nature of our work and close proximity to one another during treatments, we continue to require that everyone wear a mask while in the clinic. If you are feeling unwell, we ask that you reschedule your appointment to help us maintain the health and well-being of all clients and staff. We will continue a high level of sanitization. We greatly appreciate your understanding of the extra steps required to ensure everyone’s safety.
On your very first visit to our clinic, our practitioner will conduct a full health survey. You will have the opportunity to tell us about your pain and any health issues that you had in the past or are currently experiencing and also tell us about any medical interventions and treatments that you have had. The practitioner will then work with you to discuss any other issues that might be relevant to the condition, before performing a full and complete physical assessment. This helps us to rule out any major causes while also giving us a better understanding of your condition. We will then work with you to develop a treatment plan. Your practitioner may also provide advice on diet, posture, exercise and lifestyle if this is appropriate, as this may help to alleviate the severity of your condition.
Normal underwear and loose clothing are always the best options. Consider sweatpants, leggings or shorts, and a t-shirt for your own comfort.
We believe and understand that every person is different, and everybody needs some time to adapt after every treatment. Some clients need only a couple of appointment; others may have a course of therapy or return periodically for the long-term management and prevention of conditions. Normally the treatment of a client is determined according to their progression rather than the prescription of a set number of treatment sessions.
Treatments are not covered by MSP.
However, you may be able to claim treatments under some Extended Health Care Plans (Sun Life, Great West Life, Empire Life, Manulife, RWAM, Pacific Blue Cross, Greenshield, Industrial Alliance and Wawanesa) or an existing Corporate Health Care Expense account, contact your health plan or HR for more information.
If you cannot come to your session, please do let us know 24-hours in advance else you will be charged the full amount of the appointment. The same concept applies to no-shows. We do understand that in some exceptional circumstances this is not possible. A flexible cancellation policy applies if you have COVID-19 symptoms.
